Team GB gubbed by Brazil

Team GB’s mens football team made its first (and only) appearance ahead of the Olympics and were torn apart by Brazil.

The team’s manager Stuart Pearce said in the media when announced the squad he didn’t know the nationality of any his squad he merely picked the best players available. Well, last night at theRiversideinMiddlesbroughproved otherwise.

If that is the best these isles has to provide then we have a long way to go to match the likes of this Brazilian side and the progressSpainhas made.

Some of the players who are with Premiership clubs, like Cleverly, Allan were shown up to be honest plodders who had a real lack of creativity while Oscar and Neymar could create spaces at will.

Even the over aged players appear to be in there for sentiment rather than for what they can bring to the team. Giggs and Bellamy strolled through the game no problem, but if the team is to win gold can they play six games in three weeks? I think not!

Micah Richards look like a lumbering giant at the back and struggled to cope with the pace of Leandro, and eventually gave away the penalty for the second as he struggled to keep up with Hulk.

There surely could have been a place for Scots, such as Jordan Rhodes, Johnny Russell or James Forrest. I know there may have been difficulties with fixtures coming up but to have no Scots in this squad is laughable.

I was thrilled to see Oscar, Neymar, Hulk etc in the flesh, but was also shocked to at the appalling gap between GB andBrazil.
