Rangers back in action – same old, same old

Rangers (or whatever they are called) were back in action yesterday and they managed to scrape past Brechin, and little else had changed.

Rangers fielded seven Internationals in their first ever tie in the Ramsden’s challenge cup as they lined up against second divisionBrechinCity.

Despite opening the scoring early on through Andy Little they were made to struggle all the way, with Andy Jackson equalising just before half time. This meant the tie had to go to extra time before Lee McCulloch headed home.

While they struggled to get a full complement of subs on the bench the side was full of high earners, which had many scratching their head on how they can sustain this through the Third and Second Division.

We were also treated to the usual guff off the pitch, with new owner Charles Green claiming the decisions taken by the SPL were bigoted. This was a claim made on BBC Scotland but when pushed to explain what he meant he didn’t! He claimed there were poor “business decisions” being made. He is right the decisions made were about sporting integrity and not business…..

Then on the terraces we were treated to the usual torrent of songs from the Rangers fans and some offensive banners. It will be interesting to see how the people who run our game will react to this.

Despite months of financial troubles it was interesting to see there is still no contrition from anyone at the once great institution.
