Saints go top of the table.

St. Mirren’s win over Dundee yesterday propelled them to the top of the table, as all three of the other games ended in draws.

St. Mirren travelled toDensParkyesterday looking to build on their opening day draw withInverness. A spectacular goal from Kenny McLean, shooting home from about 35 yards out, set up the victory.

Sam Parkin sealed the win with a composed finish midway through the second half. The three points move the Saints on to four points and top of the table with Hearts, Dundee Utd and Celtic all not playing for one reason or another.

The start will be pleasing to manager Danny Lennon and he will be looking for his side to maintain this and push for at least a top six place, or maybe higher as Motherwell did last season after a good start.

Dundeemeanwhile will be concerned they haven’t scored in two games and have picked up only one point.

Aberdeenwere left frustrated a Pittodrie againstRossCountywho took their second point in their second goalless draw in the top flight. The Dons have been tipped as one of the teams to challenge for second behind Celtic but will be disappointed to have only taken one point from six.

The other two draws were atInvernessand Motherwell where there were almost as many as red cards as goals. Motherwell were reduced to ten men when Steven Hammell was shown a red card when giving away a penalty. Murray Davidson score two minutes after MacKay’s penalty had been saved byRandolph.

Well equalised late on when sub Bob McHugh bundled a Law cross in from about 10 yards out. There was still time for another red card when Rowan Vine was shown a second yellow for his second late tackle on Shaun Hutchinson.

At Inverness Owen Tudur-Jones was show a red card after being involved in an altercation with James Fowler. The goals in this game were scored by Andrew Shinnie for the home side, whileKilmarnockequalised through Manuel Pascali.

Today we have theEdinburghderby which could see Hibs stuck on the bottom with zero points if they can’t end their horrendous derby run, having not won in eleven.
