Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood completed the signing of goalkeeper Jamie Langfield and threw down a challenge to dislodge current number one Ryan Esson.
Langfield, 25, finalised a three-year deal at Pittodrie after failing to make a single appearance for Dumfermline last season.
The former Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers and Dundee goalkeeper failed to dislodge Derek Stillie at Dunfermline and now faces a bigger struggle against Scotland understudy Esson and David Preece.
It is a daunting prospect but one Calderwood is adamant Langfield will rise to: "It is a big challenge, but it show's the character Langfield has," said Calderwood.
