Hearts beat Motherwell 2-1. Goals from Rudi Skacel and Edgaras Jankauskas were enough to secure the victory. Richie Foran scored the consolation goal 15 minutes from time. The Jambos are now 5 points clear at the top of the SPL.

Champions Rangers were defeated for the second time this season when Hibernian hammered them at Ibrox. Ivan Sproule proved to be a a handfull as he netted a superb second-half hat-trick, having climbed off the bench on the hour mark, to sink The ussless Gers.

Aberdeen secured their second win of the season with a comfortable home win over Falkirk.

Kilmarnock were another side to enjoy an easy afternoon, with basement boys Livingston put to the sword at Rugby Park.

Colin Nish grabbed a hat trick in that game.
