Pardew's Royal signing

West Ham boss Alan Pardew looks set to recruit his second player within the next 48 hours. Reading left back Nicky Shorey is the player in question and will join the club subject to a medical which should take place late today or tomorrow.

The 24 year old Reading star was originally signed by Pardew from Leyton Orient for £25,000 in February 2001.

If Shorey does join he will become the second member of Reading's staff to leave, following Niall Clark's appointment to the backroom team yesterday.
