Owen Hits Back At Critics With A Hat-Trick

Micheal Owen today shut all his critics up with a brilliant hat-trick to floor Manchester City at Maine Road.

Owen has came under pressure after failing to score from open play this season but on this display in which he single handedly destroyed Man Citys 24 unbeaten Home Record he has surely answered all the doubters.

Liverpool took the lead with a gift from City defender Niclas Jensen after he tryed to clear but thrashed the ball off his own defender Steve Howey and Owen could not miss as he gave The Reds the lead and scored his first goal from open play this season.

Things were to get better for the England star on 64 minutes when Steven Gerrard supplied an excellent through ball and with City defender Distin playing Owen onside he raced clear and slipped the ball brilliantly past Schmeichel into the corner of the net.

It was the Gerrard and Owen double act at it again when Steven supplied another excellent through ball for Owen to chase onto and City defender Sun came off second best in the challenge and Owen raced clear to thrash the ball past Schmeichel in off the post to complete a great day for the England man and has surely answered his critics.
