Owen given all-clear after scan

Michael Owen has been given the green light after X-rays revealed his foot is bruised, and not broken as had been feared. Read On for more..

Owen received a kick on his right foot during the Champions League defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen.

But Liverpool confirmed Owen suffered only bruising and will be fit to face Sunderland on Saturday.

Spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Michael was sent for an X-ray this afternoon as a precaution and it confirmed our initial thoughts that he had suffered bruising of his right foot.

"Michael will be available for this Saturday's game at Sunderland."
