"New Vieira" for Anfield

Liverpool Manager Gerard Houllier could be ready to
reap an unexpected reward for his months out recovering from heart surgery by signing a player hailed "the new Vieira".

Houllier spotted Senegal midfielder Salif Diao while recovering and could be ready to try and prize him away from french side Sedan with a £4.5 million bid.

Midfielder Diao, 25 said 'I need a new challenge and would be tempted by playing for a top Premiership side. That is where true football's played.'
