Liverpool Agree Fee For Lee Bowyer

Liverpool have agreed a £9million fee with Leeds United to bring Lee Bowyer to Anfield .

Bowyer who refused to sign a new contract with the Elland Road Club will discuss terms with Liverpool ahead of his expected move to Anfield.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton told Liverpool's official website: "We have agreed a fee with Leeds for Lee Bowyer.

"They have given us permission to talk with the player."

Leeds were hoping that the arrival of Former England boss Terry Venables could persuade Bowyer to stay but was to no avail, Bowyer who returned to training for Leeds on Thursday had made up his mind on a move to Anfield.

"We've given Lee permission to talk to Liverpool," Ridsdale said.

"Terry Venables did have a chat with Lee, but his agent called on Thursday night to say nothing has changed.

"Liverpool have made an offer that's acceptable to us and the rest is now in Lee's hands.

"How quickly the deal goes through is now up to him and Liverpool to agree personal terms and go through the medical."

Ridsdale told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "He only had a year to go on his contract and something had to be done.

"Obviously we don't want to lose Lee, but he's made his decision not to sign a new contract."
