Liverpool have been boosted by the news that they could have England pair Danny Murphy and Jamie Carragher for the clash against Lazio at Anfield. Both were robbed of a place at the world cup and Gerard Houlier is delighted especially for Jamie as it was first feared that he would miss the first 2 months of the season. He has been out with a troublesome knee injury which took place hours before Sven Goran Eriksson picked his squad for the far east. He needed immediate surgery to cure the long-standing problem.Liverpool manager Houlier said, "Jamie is making very good progress and I wouldn't be surprised if he was ahead of schedule now."At first we thought he would be ready again by mid-September but now we think he could be ready days, if not weeks, before that. He has been doing very well and that's good news for us."Unfortunatly for Steven Gerrard and Emile Heskey, they have been ruled out of the game against Lazio but could be fit in time for the clubs visit to face Real Madrid in the Spanish capital.Steven Gerrard has a thigh problem and has had a precautionary scan, and powerful forward Emile Heskey has a hamstring problem.Liverpool skipper Sami Hyypia and midfielder Vladimir Smicer are set to make thier come back against the Italian giants after minor injuries and there will be home debuts handed to new signings Bruno Cheyrou and El-Hadji Diouf . |
