Darius Vassell has today completed his cut-price move from Aston Villa to Manchester City. After a long debate as to whether he would remain at Villa Park, Vassell finally left the Villains for only £2m.

David O'Leary defended his decision to sell Vassell by saying, "I think he's gone stale at Villa. The bottom line is we were looking for more goals from Vass. His record speaks for itself. He's not exactly been prolific for us and that's where he'll be looking to improve at Manchester City. I'm sure he'll look to get back in the England team with this move."
O'Leary went on to praise Vassell both as a player and a person by saying, "We wish him well...He's been a lovely boy to deal with here and we never had any problems with him whatsoever."

David O'Leary is expected to use the money from Vassell's sale to put towards a £7m offer for Liverpool's Milan Baros.
