Aston Villa boss David O'Leary has admitted that he can't wait to see how Darius Vassell performs against The Villans on Monday night.

The ex-England international left Villa Park in a cut-price deal during last summer's transfer window and although many fans feel O'Leary made a mistake in selling him, the boss himself believes it was the right thing to do for both Villa and Vassell.

With Villa travelling to the City of Manchester Stadium on Monday night, Darius Vassell is set to play against his former club for the first time.

Speaking on the matter, O'Leary said, "Darius Vassell is a wonderful boy and I can't wait to see him on Monday.

"Darius himself is looked after by good people, who knew that to get his career back on track he needed a change and I totally agreed with them.

"I think Darius needed a change, the boy knew that himself and it was good business for Villa as well. I think it has worked out well for both of us.

"We haven't sold City a bad player, he's a good player but a good player who needed to go somewhere else."
