Aston Villa defender Mark Delaney has warned his team-mates to face up to the fact that they could face a battle against relegation and has insisted that the Villans deserve to be at the bottom of the table.

The Welsh international, who has missed the majority of this season due to a knee injury, has warned his team-mates that if they continue to ignore the threat of relegation, they will face the drop at the end of the season.

"The table doesn't lie," the Welshman started. "We're down in the bottom four and probably rightly so.

"I know a lot of teams down there will say they're too good to go down or shouldn't be down there, but I don't personally believe that. It's results that count and we've not picked up enough results.

"But when the international players get back, we'll be fully focused on the Sunderland game to put it right.

"Both for myself and the team, we needed this break to get ourselves back together, look at ourselves, realise what's going wrong and start putting it right."
