World Cup defender Abdoulaye Meite will complete a £1 million move to Bolton Wanderers within days according to the Bolton Evening News.

The Ivory Coast international has been a target of the Trotters for over two years as Sam Allardyce first declared an interest in bringing the player to English football towards the tail end of the 2003-2004 season.

Meite himself has also recently expressed a desire to move to these shores and despite some late interest from German side Stuttgart, the Wanderers have agreed on a deal with Olympique Marseille.

Once again Allardyce's lengthy persistance has paid off and the Trotters have filled a huge void left in their defence by the recent departure of Bruno N'Gotty to Birmingham City.

The 25-year old is already familiar to the club as he was part of the Marseille team which ended Bolton's UEFA Cup hopes over the course of two legs in the last season.
