Villareal Explain Sorin Snub

Villareal president Fernando Roig has explained why Argentine World Cup star Juan Pablo Sorin turned down a move to Bolton Wanderers.

Bolton thought they had concluded a deal in excess of £2 million for the 30-year old Sorin but the move fell through at the last minute and Roig has explained the reasons why.

"We had reached an agreement with Bolton for Sorin, but the player wasn't convinced by the deal that was on offer and he has come back to our club. If we get another offer that interests both us and the player then we will accept it, if not then we will honour the two years that he has left on his contract"

Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce has yet to give any indication as to whether or not he will make a renewed offer for Sorin but the chances are increasingly unlikely as a striker remains the top of his wanted list in the summer transfer window.

One time Juventus, Lazio, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain player Sorin would have represented Bolton's biggest transfer coup since they signed Youri Djorkaeff, Ivan Campo and Jay-Jay Okocha in 2002.
