Spurs Duo Confident Going Into Season Opener

Tottenham duo Edgar Davids and Dimitar Berbatov are confident that their side can come away from the Reebok Stadium on Saturday evening with three points.

The pair where speaking just a few days before the Premiership season begins and they are holding no fears despite the fact that only a handful of teams came away from Bolton with a victory last season.

Striker Berbatov, a recent Spurs signing from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, says that the London club's preparation has been spot on over the close season with just one defeat recorded.

"We've played many pre-season friendlies and the most encouraging thing was that we've won all of them but one. I know there are no easy games but I'm confident we'll start with a win over Bolton on Saturday."

"We have very good players and I think we can finish among the top four teams and qualify for the Champions League".

Veteran Dutch midfielder Davids was also full of confidence and says that Martin Jol's side will be able to cope with the physical style which Wanderers have often been renound for in recent years.

"It is bound to be physical at Bolton, but we have the players to cope with that." said the man nicknamed the "pit bull".

Recent history is leaning in the Wanderers favour as Spurs last recorded victory at Bolton nearly ten and a half years ago. Kevin Nolan's stunning solo goal last season meant that the Trotters made it six home games undefeated against Tottenham in the last decade.
