Speed Commits For Two Years

Gary Speed has signed a new two-year contract with Bolton Wanderers which will keep him at the Reebok Stadium until the summer after next.

The 36-year old has been a key figure in the Wanderers midfield since his transfer from Newcastle United two years ago and the club are absolutely delighted that the Welshman has put pen to paper to prolong his time at the Reebok.

Trotters manager Sam Allardyce feels that there is no player around with a better knowledge of the Premiership than Speed who is currently the league's highest ever appearance holder since its formation in 1992.

"Gary's top-flight experience is second to none and is vital to this football club, He's been with us for two seasons and has been exceptional in that time." said the Bolton chief

Speed also has the destinction of having captained all of his clubs in the Premier League at some point.
