Bolton Lose Davo For Six Weeks

Kevin Davies has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after sustaining a fractured cheekbone during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic.

The 29-year old was elbowed full on in the face by Addicks defender Hermann Hreidarsson in the first half of the clash at The Valley and referee Mike Dean had no option but to send the Icelander off the field for violent conduct.

Davies continued to bravely play on for most of the game before getting himself sent off for a similar offence on Amdy Faye with just twenty minutes of the play remaining.

In his three seasons with the Wanderers the former Southampton man has seldom missed a first team game so this piece of news has come as a massive blow to Bolton manager Sam Allardyce.

"It's terrible news for Kevin and the squad, I feel for Kevin. He is the ultimate professional who always gives his best no matter what strain he is under from opposition defenders."

Allardyce also confirmed that Bolton will be appealling against the three match suspension which Davies was handed after receiving his marching orders at the weekend.

"We feel it is right to appeal against his dismissal. It is appalling that Kevin doesn't get the protection he deserves from referees. He is constantly put under duress by defenders and he never feigns injury or tries to con the referee by simulating."
