Tristan Slams Money Claim

Real Mallorca new boy Diego Tristan says that he still has something to give Spanish football after turning his back on a move to England with Bolton Wanderers.

The experienced targetman looked all set to move to the Premiership with Wanderers earlier this week before sensationally snubbing the move in favour of a second spell with Mallorca.

Tristan excelled during his time with previous club Deportivo La Coruna over a five year spell and he was one of this summers most interesting Bosman's with a number of clubs said to have taken an interest.

Bolton had hoped that their previous successes with Spanish stars such as Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro would tempt Tristan to foreign climes but the 30-year old wanted to remain in his homeland.

"In the Premiership the money is superior, but today I believe I can still be a success in Spain, My head did go to England, but my heart decided on Mallorca. Now my challenge is to play. My decision was not influenced by money" revealed Tristan

Meanwhile the Trotters are said to be keeping a close eye on Southampton's Welsh international teenager Gareth Bale but they face competition from a whole host of top clubs for the defender who is tipped to play at the very highest level.
