McDonagh Gets Villa Role

Premiership rivals Aston Villa have appointed former Bolton Wanderers favourite Seamus McDonagh as their new specialist goalkeeping coach.

The former Republic of Ireland international custodian replaces Eric Steele in the role as manager Martin O'Neill looks to bring in his own backroom team to Villa Park.

McDonagh, who celebrates his 54th birthday today, had two spells with the Wanderers stretching from the mid seventies to the early eighties and was fondly thought of during his time at Burnden Park.

It will be the third time that McDonagh has worked under O'Neill as the two where paired together at Leicester City and Celtic.
