Ricardo Gardner successfully came through the first test of his comeback trail as Bolton Wanderers reserves recorded a 2-1 win over their Manchester City counterparts in Leyland last night.

The Jamaican international wing back played all ninety minutes for the second string as he looks to recover from a third knee ligament operation in the last six years.

Leslie Thompson and Ricardo Vaz-Te scored the all important goals for Bolton to give them their second successive win of the season. Striker Ishmael Miller netted a late consolation goal for City from a free kick as the game reached its conclusion.
