Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has moved quickly to play down reports linking midfielder Ivan Campo with a move away from the Reebok Stadium.

Yesterday some media sources on the continent claimed that the 32-year old would be on his way back to the Basque region with Athletico Bilbao in the New Year but Allardyce is adamant that the fans favourite will stay in England.

Campo signed a two year extension to his contract at Bolton last summer and Allardyce says that the former Real Madrid man is happy to remain with the club for the foreseeable future.

"We have had no enquiries from Athletic Bilbao or any other Club for the services of Ivan Campo," said Allardyce to the official website.

"Ivan signed a new contract in the summer and is happy at Bolton Wanderers and playing in England. The media have linked Ivan with a move back to the Basque Country because he is from that part of the world, but I can assure you he is staying in England with Bolton Wanderers."
