Bolton Wanderers youth academy have progressed through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Sheffield Wednesday by a 2-0 scoreline at Hillsborough.

A Scott Jamieson penalty and a goal from Leslie Thompson made all the difference and the Bolton youngsters now face an away date with Sunderland in the next round of the competition.

Nathan Wolfe tested home keeper Richard O'Donnell in the first half to give an indication of what was to come and the Australian utility player Jamieson gave Bolton the lead from the spot when Sam Liversige was ajudged to have fouled Wanderers midfielder Robert Sissons.

Thompson made the game safe with a fine individual goal for Bolton but the hosts could have gotten themselves back into the game but for the fact that David McClements hit the crossbar.
