Former Wanderers Reserves Move On

Former Bolton Wanderers fringe players Jeff Smith and Jonathan Walters have both made moves prior to next weeks transfer deadline.

One time postman Smith made just two league appearances for the Wanderers between 2001 and 2004 but did manage to put in a couple of eye catching performances in the cup competitions.

He has re-established himself at League One side Port Vale and is now on the move to Carlisle United for £60,000 where he will link up with ex-Bolton coach and current Cumbrians manager Neil McDonald.

Walters on the other hand has caught the eye of Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton having played a successful part in the Chester City side that has made great strides in this seasons FA Cup.

The 23-year old forward made four brief substitute appearances for Bolton in the 2002-2003 season before moving on to the likes of Hull City, Scunthorpe United, Wrexham and finally Chester.

Walters is expected to cost the struggling Tractor Boys a fee in excess of £250,000, with £150,000 being paid up front.
