Reserves Tackle The Toon Army

Bolton reserves could join Manchester rivals United and City in joint second place in the FA Premier Reserve League if they manage to beat Newcastle United at the County Ground tonight.

The Wanderers second string have gone from league strugglers to title challengers in the space of a couple of months and have a game in hand on some of their nearest rivals.

Middlesbrough currently lead the way at the top of the table with twenty two points from ten games played but they have played a couple more games than some of the sides below them.

Jimmy Phillips has seen his Bolton side win four out of their last five league games with midfielder Nathan Wolfe scoring the only goal in the last game against Blackburn Rovers just under a fortnight ago.

Bolton must do without two of their young professionals for the visit of the Magpies as Johann Smith and Przemyslaw Kazimierczak are out on loan to Carlisle United and Accrington Stanley respectively.
