Racing Set Zigic Price

Spanish club Racing Santander have slapped an £8.2 million price tag on the head of their giant striker Nikola Zigic amid recent transfer speculation surrounding the Serbian international.

The 26-year old only moved to Spain from Red Star Belgrade shortly after last summers World Cup finals but Racing are willing to part with the forward should they receive a suitable offer.

Zigic has scored seven goals in La Liga this season but has recently expressed a desire to move to the English Premiership in the not too distant future. Bolton, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have all been mentioned as possible suitors in the past and it has been suggested that they could all be in the running for a second time.

Scouts from the three clubs were beleived to have watched Zigic in action against Osasuna recently, but it remains to be seen whether or not Wanderers will shell out such big money for yet another striker having paid £8 million to Fenerbahce for Nicolas Anelka last August.

A club spokesperson for Racing Santander said that they will study any offers they receive for Zigic carefully, but they admit no club have yet made any approach for the player who stands at a remarkable 6ft 8in tall.

"Formally, we have not received any propositions, but we know the player is wanted by several clubs, If any interesting offer comes in, we will study the subject" said the statement

Juventus are also beleived to be in the running to take Zigic to the much troubled Serie A league.
