A late Andreas Granqvist own goal gave Bolton Wanderers reserves a 1-0 win over struggling local rivals Wigan Athletic last night.

Granqvist diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper Carlo Nash after a right wing cross by Wanderers wing back James Sinclair had caused much panic in the Latics goalmouth.

Wigan may feel slightly aggrieved by the result as they tested Bolton goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierzczak on more than one occasion but Wanderers will be bouyed by the win and now have a good chance of challenging league leaders Middlesbrough for the reserve league title.

On loan teenager Zoltan Harsanyi twice had chances to put Bolton ahead when faced with a one on one situation with Bolton-born Nash, whilst Johansson had a couple of good chances to force the visitors into the lead at the other end.

Giant defender Fitz Hall saw his effort tipped over the top by Kazimierzczak whilst Blazej Augustyn showed quick reactions to hack an early Latics effort from off the line.
