Fifth The Aim For Nolan

Kevin Nolan has urged Bolton Wanderers to make sure that they finish the season with a flourish and cement the fifth place spot in the Premiership.

Everton have overtaken the Wanderers in the league this weekend following their last gasp win over relegation threatened Charlton Athletic but Nolan has called on his team mates to make one final effort in the four games that remain.

The Bolton skipper told the club's official website that the team must prove they are the best of the rest outside of the big four of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Nolan also feels that a Champions League place could still be possible providing that Arsenal slip up and the Wanderers take advantage right at the death in a similar way to what the Gunners did with their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on the final game of last season.

"These are exciting times here. We've been fifth for a long time now and we don't want to give that up because, if we can't get into the Champions League, we've got to be the best outside the top-four." Nolan said


"We've got four games to go and, if we win those games, we'll finish in the top-five, it's as simple as that. We've got some tough games coming up but we've shown before that we can go to big places and get results and we should do it in our home games."

"Hopefully, on May 13, we could be celebrating fifth spot and European football and who knows, with a bit of luck, if Arsenal do slip up, we could still be celebrating Champions League football."

Bolton have home games against Reading and Aston Villa either side of away trips to Chelsea and West Ham United in the final few weeks of this campaign.
