Ex-Everton midfielder Idan Tal put his old side to the sword as Bolton reserves won by a 2-1 scoreline at the County Ground earlier this evening.

Stelios Giannakopoulos also found the target for the Wanderers second string as they kept up the pressure on the sides around them in the race to land the Reserve League North title.

Bolton went behind to a Nuno Valente goal in only the second minute of the game and it could so easily have been more had goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi not pulled off a good save to deny Stephen Connor.

Midfielder David Thompson and strike duo Zoltan Harsanyi and Ricardo Vaz-Te had chances to pull the hosts level but a mixture of inaccurate shooting and good goalkeeping helped to keep Everton in the lead.

However, it was only a matter of time before in form Bolton got themselves back into the game, with Tal once again scoring against his old employers just as he had done in this reverse fixture late last year.

Israel international Tal finished off a neat four man move which also included contributions from Thompson, Giannakopoulos and young Australian wing back Scott Jamieson.

Tal turned goal provider as the game reached it's conclusion when both he and Harsanyi teed up Giannakopoulos for the matchwinning goal. The win came at a price though as Vaz-Te was sacraficed late in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.
