McParland In Frame For General Manager Role

Liverpool's highly rated chief scout Frank McParland is the latest name to be linked with the newly created role of General Manager at Bolton Wanderers according to some of today's media reports. .

The 48-year old is a good friend of Wanderers manager Sammy Lee after the two worked together on the coaching staff at Liverpool and it now seems as if he is the clear favourite to get the job.

McParland is a qualified coach and has previously helped out with the Reds Academy teams in the past. He also has a strong business background to fall back on having been employed as business manager for BT for a number of years prior to moving into football with Liverpool in 1994.

Ex-Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier appointed McParland to the role of chief scout in 1998 and he has since continued a similar sort of role during Rafa Benitez time in charge at Anfield.

He has brought some good young talent to Liverpool and is considered to be a key component in their recruitment of new talent.

Other people rumoured to be considered for the General manager role are Wales assistant manager Roy Evans and current Bolton performance director Mike Forde. However, Forde is said to be on the wish list of Sam Allardyce's backroom shake up at Newcastle United and is therefore stalling on his future.
