Wanderers Compete In Peace Cup

The 2007 Peace Cup in South Korea will be featuring eight teams from across the world including English based duo of Bolton Wanderers and Reading, both of whom have strong links to the Far East.

The tournament will begin on the 12th July and will feature clubs from Argentina, Japan, Italy, France, Mexico and of course home nation South Korea with the final played some nine days later at one of the venues used for the 2002 World Cup Finals.

It is only the third time that the two-yearly event has been held. Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven won the first ever Peace Cup four years ago and Tottenham Hotspur proved victorious in 2005.

Wanderers are no stranger to this continent as they won the Asia Cup tournament two years ago and have previously had Japanese stars such as Hidetoshi Nakata and Akinori Nishizawa on their books.

Furthermore, the Trotters also have a lucrative link up with Chinese side Wuhan which was set in operation after lengthy discussions where held over the course of last year by Bolton club secretary Simon Marland.

Reading themselves also have strong Far Eastern connections as their forward Seol Ki-Hyeon is a firm favourite with the Korean national side having won over seventy caps.
