Fred Takes On Northern Ireland Role

Bolton Wanderers goalkeeping coach Fred Barber has landed himself a role on the Northern Ireland coaching staff following the appointment of former Norwich City and Blackpool manager Nigel Worthington as the new Greens boss.

Worthington replaces Fulham chief Lawrie Sanchez as the Northern Ireland manager and he has wasted no time in adding Barber and Southampton coach Glynn Snodin to his backroom team.

Barber, who has been at Bolton for eleven years, will still honour his commitments at club level by coaching the likes of Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ian Walker and Ali Al-Habsi but his expertise will also now stretch to national keepers Maik Taylor, Roy Carroll, Mike Ingham and Alan Blayney.
