Bolton Appoint New Goalkeeper Coach

Former Rochdale goalkeeper Neil Edwards has joined the Bolton Wanderers backroom staff as a Goalkeeping Coach after spending a year in a similar role with League One side Carlisle United.

The 36-year old Welshman retired from playing at the end of the 2005-2006 season following injury and he immediately joined the staff at Brunton Park under ex-Wanderers coach and current Carlisle manager Neil McDonald.

During his playing career Edwards appeared in over 200 games for Rochdale and also took in spells with Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County and Bury.

Appointing the Welsh U21 cap will help to reduce the work load of current Bolton goalkeeper coach Fred Barber who has recently accepted a role with the Northern Ireland national team.

Edwards duties will primarily be with young goalkeepers from the Academy.
