A whole host of Championship clubs are interested in signing combative midfielder David Thompson after he was released from his short term contract at Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.
The 29-year old made eight appearances for the Wanderers following his January move from Portsmouth but new manager Sammy Lee decided against offering him a longer term deal.
Now recently relegated Charlton Athletic have joined Preston North End, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Norwich City in wanting to sign the one time England U21 star.
Thompson began his career with Liverpool eleven years ago and has also served Swindon Town, Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic.
All of the players released by Bolton last year have so far failed to link up with new clubs with Henrik Pedersen, Cesar Martin and Quinton Fortune joining Thompson in the search for a new team.
