Guthrie On Target

On-loan midfielder Danny Guthrie netted a late equaliser for Bolton Wanderers reserves as they contested a 1-1 draw with local rivals Manchester City at the County Ground in Leyland earlier this evening.

The 20-year old on a season long arrangment from Liverpool, fired home a sublime volley from distance in the closing stages after Ashley Grimes had earlier put City in the driving seat.

Joey O'Brien and Ricardo Gardner both lasted the first half as they made their recovery from recent injuries and there was also a steady performance from Andy O'Brien on his debut following his recent move from Portsmouth.

City goalscorer Grimes hit the woodwork after a poor clearance from Bolton keeper Ali Al-Habsi in the second half and striker Temitope Obadeyi did likewise at the other end for the Wanderers.

Leslie Thompson and skipper Jaroslaw Fojut had chances to bring Bolton back into the game prior to a grandstand finish courtesy of Guthrie who will have put himself in first team contention for Saturday's game at home to Reading.
