Championship side Hull City could be about to offer former Bolton Wanderers captain Jay-Jay Okocha a swift return to English football after his contract with the Qatar Sports Club recently expired.

The 34-year old Okocha spent four highly successful years with the Wanderers after making the surprise move from Paris Saint Germain following the 2002 World Cup and ex-Bolton assistant manager Phil Brown is interested in being re-united with the Nigerian.

Brown concedes that he might have difficulty in luring the midfielder to the KC Stadium despite their long association together but the loss of ex-England international Nick Barmby through injury means that Hull must strengthen their midfield options this week.

"I had a tentative chat with Jay-Jay just because he's available and is a free agent. He's had similar chats with five or six clubs in England who are interested in him," said Brown to the Hull Daily Mail

"It's not a case of anything falling flat or not coming off. I'm just waiting on a phone call but I admit I'm not holding out any hope." he added

One time African Player of the Year Okocha made 124 Premiership appearances for Bolton scoring 14 goals before moving to the Middle East in the summer of 2006.
