Summer signing Heidar Helguson could be out of action for up to two months after undergoing surgery on an ankle problem which has plagued him during the early few weeks of his Bolton Wanderers career.

The Icelandic international striker was signed from Fulham for £2 million over the summer and was involved in the Wanderers first three games of the season.

Helguson's absence co-incides with the return of fellow front man Kevin Davies who made his first appearance since the opening day of the season when coming on as a second half substitute against Everton.

Defender Nicky Hunt also faces a spell on the treatment table after suffering an ankle injury against the Toffees.
