Jussi Contract Discussions Stagnant - Harrison

No nearer to new deal

The agent of Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen claims that the club are no nearer to offering the Finnish international an improved contract meaning that he could walk away from ten years service at the Reebok Stadium next summer.

Jaaskelainen's current deal expires in the summer of 2008 and his representative Peter Harrison beleives that the long serving custodian should have a deal which is on a par with striker Nicolas Anelka.

Last week Anelka signed an extension to stay at Bolton rumoured to be around £70,000 per week and Harrison says Jaaskelainen should also be paid his worth to the team.

"Bolton have tied up Nicolas Anelka,but Jussi has been there ten years and talks have stalled" said Harrison

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with Jaaskelainen but with the London club already having the likes of Paul Robinson, Radek Cerny and Ben Alnwick on their books a move seems unlikely.

Aston Villa and Sunderland where also interested in Bolton's longest serving professional before opting to sign Scott Carson and Craig Gordon respectively.
