Sammy Lee has rejected claims that Wigan Athletic new boy Rachid Bouaouzan turned down a move to Bolton Wanderers prior to signing on the dotted line at the JJB Stadium on transfer deadline week last month.

Former Sparta Rotterdam hardman Bouaouzan claimed that he chose to move to Wigan ahead of Bolton after his agent had held discussions with Wanderers officials but Lee says a move was never on the cards for the 23-year old.

"The player's agent offered us the striker, But I had no interest in the player whatsoever." said Lee of the player who was jailed in 2004 for ending an opponents career.

Lee brought in twelve new faces to the Bolton squad over the summer and appointed over a dozen new backroom staff following the departure of Sam Allardyce to Newcastle United.
