Reserves Set For United Test

A young Bolton Wanderers reserve side will travel to the Victoria Stadium this evening to take on a Manchester United team currently level on points with them at the wrong end of the Reserve League.

Last time out Jimmy Phillips' side lost their first game in over six months when going down 3-0 against Newcastle United at St James Park, so the Bolton coach will be hoping his young side can get back on track tonight when facing the Reds.

In this fixture last season a hat trick from the now Blackpool striker Phil Marsh gave United the honours in a 4-1 success at the home of Hyde United.

Nathan Wolfe pulled back a consolation for the Trotters in that game and he is one of a number of first year professionals to make the starting line up for this evening's contest.

Hungarian goalkeeper Adam Bogdan will also play due to Ali Al-Habsi and Ian Walker's commitments with the first team squad at Fulham last night.

First year scholar Chris Stokes makes his debut appearance at reserve team level and there is a place on the substitutes bench for Kevin Wolze following the German teenagers exploits in the Youth World Cup recently.

United include Fraizer Campbell, Lee Martin and Phil Bardsley in their side despite the fact that the trio played some part for Sir Alex Ferguson's senior side in yesterday's Carling Cup defeat at home to Coventry City.

Bolton-born Sam Hewson also gets a chance to line up against the club he supported during his school days.
