Bolton Wanderers reserves recorded their first win since the opening game of the season when they defeated local rivals Oldham Athletic 3-0 in Leyland earlier this evening in the second phase of the Manchester Senior Cup.

Zoltan Harsanyi, Robert Sissons and Michael Burns all got on the scoresheet in what was a very open game where Bolton's superior finishing eventually proved decisive.

Harsanyi put the Wanderers ahead in the second minute when leathally shooting past Latics goalkeeper Josh Olleranshaw, but it was the heroics of Bolton's Tom Brocklehurst in the other goal and some assistance from the woodwork which came to Bolton'a rescue throughout the ninety minutes.

Striker Matthew Wolfenden was first to hit the woodwork for Oldham when heading a Kelvin Lomax cross onto the post and then midfielder John Thompson rattled the underside of the bar.

Bolton themselves also hit the woodwork when Olleranshaw tipped Burns shot onto the bar and the hosts also went close with a Nathan Wolfe free kick and an effort from Sissons.

Sissons got onto the scoresheet with just 25 minutes left to play with a fantastic header and the former England youth international's goal was followed by Burns who met a cross from substitute Kevin Wolze to seal the game.
