New Boss Megson Wants To Win Fans Over

New Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has vowed to win over the Trotters supporters despite receiving a negative reaction to his appointment in the Reebok Stadium hotseat on Thursday lunchtime.

Megson was not the choice of the majority of the Wanderers faithful to succeed Sammy Lee at Bolton but the much travelled Mancunian is striving to change people's opinion.

Speaking at his official unveiling as Bolton manager the 48-year old said that he would give his all in an attempt to get the club back on track and hopes that the supporters will eventually back him despite their initial reservations.

"All I can do is get together with the players and get some results to change that (fan reaction). You don't turn up everywhere and get the red carpet laid out for you." said Megson earlier this afternoon

"In terms of the supporters, they are the bedrock of the football club. We need them onside. I'll give it everything to get things back on track but I have to accept that maybe I am not their number one choice."

The Bolton job is Megson's eighth managerial appointment and he is well known in North West circles having been brought up in the area, played at Manchester City and Everton as well as management stints at Blackpool and Stockport County.
