McLeish Silent On Wanderers Talk

Scotland Boss Keeps Quiet

Scotland national boss Alex McLeish is remaining silent amid rumours that Bolton Wanderers offered him a dream ticket into Premier League management prior to the appointment of Gary Megson late last week.

A number of the weekend press columns reported that the former Hibernian and Glasgow Rangers boss was given a chance to succeed Sammy Lee in the Reebok Stadium hot seat prior to the appointment of Megson but McLeish would neither confirm, nor deny the Bolton links.

According to speculation the former defender described the Wanderers opportunity as the "right job, wrong time" as he prepared to lead Scotland to Euro 2008 glory.

However, the one time Aberdeen stalwart was less revealing when questioned by the media earlier this week with McLeish unprepared to discuss his involvement with Bolton.

"As far as Bolton is concerned, I'm not going to say whether there was an offer or not, I'm not prepared to comment on that, but I am committed to Scotland's cause and we have a huge game to look forward to." said McLeish.

The 48-year old has previously revealed a desire to manage in the English Premier League after successful stints in charge at Hibs, Rangers and Motherwell in the SPL.
