Megson Brings In Scouting Quartet

Gary Megson has added four ex-professional players to his scouting snetwork in an attempt to boost Bolton Wanderers recruitment drive ahead of the January transfer window in just a few weeks from now.

Hot on the heels of the appointments of Chief Scout Colin Harvey, Performance director Chris Evans and physiotherapist Paul Lake, Megson has recruited Alan Cork, Alan Harper, Terry Darracott and John Deehan to assist the search for new players.

Megson worked with Deehan during his time at Norwich City in the mid 1990's and the Solihull-born former striker has held coaching roles at Manchester City, Sheffield United and Aston Villa as well as director of football roles with Northampton Town and Lincoln City.

He also managed Wigan Athletic for a three year spell between 1995 and 1998 and helped the Latics to the Division 3 title ten years ago.

Cork, also a former forward,  is best known for his spell as part of the Wimbledon "Crazy Gang" which rose through the Divisions in the 1980's and reached the 1988 FA Cup Final where they famously beat Liverpool at Wembley.

When retiring Cork held coaching roles at Swansea City and Leicester City as well as short spells in management with the Swans and Cardiff City.

Ex-midfielder Harper knows Megson through their Everton and Manchester City connections and since leaving his last professional club Burnley in 1996 he returned to Everton as youth coach prior to leaving the role two years ago.

Finally Darracott was an associate of Harvey's as a player and coach at Everton and he has also held a youth coaching role at Manchester City as well as a scouting stint at Blackburn Rovers.
