Megson Hopeful Of Jaaskelainen Talks

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson is keen to hold more talks with goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen in a bid to get the long serving Finnish international to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Reebok Stadium.

The 32-year old can leave Bolton under the Bosman ruling next summer and the players agent Peter Harrison has already stated that Jaaskelainen is more than likely to end his ten year association with the Wanderers next May.

Clubs such as Arsenal, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Newcastle United have all been linked to the custodian who cost Bolton a mere £300,000 when moving from VPS Vaasa a decade ago this month.

Megson is refusing to give up on losing one of his best players though and is hopeful of sitting down to further discussions with the player over the coming week so to avoid another Tal Ben-Haim situation of last season.

"Jussi is one of the best keepers in Europe. We'll sit down when the time is right." said Megson when asked about the position of negotiations with the clubs longest serving player.
