Seagraves Handed Derby Role

New Derby County manager Paul Jewell has wasted no time in making changes to his staff by bringing in former Wanderers defender Mark Seagraves as one of two new coaching appointments at Pride Park.

Just as another ex-Bolton player Julian Darby followed Billy Davies out of the Derby exit door, Jewell took Seagraves from Wigan Athletic and also added the former Burnley and Bury manager Stan Ternent to his staff.

The 41-year old Seagraves had been employed as First Team Coach at Wigan for the past couple of seasons but the arrival of Steve Bruce as manager at the JJB Stadium put his future into some doubt.

Best known for helping the Wanderers to two promotions in 1993 and 1995, Seagraves made over 150 appearances for the club with one of his finest moments coming when scoring against his hometown club Liverpool in an FA Cup tie at Burnden Park during the Bruce Rioch era.
