Anelka Replacement?

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has identified Toulouse goal getter Johan Elmander as the man to fill the shoes of top scorer Nicolas Anelka who left the club for Chelsea yesterday in a record £15 million sale.

Megson is keen to spend his transfer budget wisely in a bid to help Bolton stave off the threat of relegation and Swedish international Elmander is high in the thoughts of the Trotters chief.

The 26-year old has been around for nearly a decade but it is only since his move to Danish club Brondby in 2004 that his career has really taken off and he has repeated his prolific spell in the French Ligue 1 during his time with Toulouse.

"I saw Johan play a couple of years ago with Brondby, He's one we would be interested in, but whether we can get it done is another thing." said Megson

It is thought that Toulouse will be holding out for a sizeable fee for their top striker, beleived to be in a similar region to the £8 million which Wanderers forked out for Anelka eighteen months ago.
