Earlier reports which had linked Bolton Wanderers defender Gerald Cid with a move back to France gathered momentum earlier today when it was confirmed that the former Bordeaux centre half had agreed a mutual termination to his contract.

The 24-year old has failed to establish himself since his summer switch to the Wanderers and quickly follows countryman Nicolas Anelka out of the Reebok Stadium exit door.

Cid played in the opening few Premier League matches for Bolton under Sammy Lee's management but has since been limited to cup duty upon the arrival of current boss Gary Megson.

It is expected that Cid will sign a three and a half year deal with Nice within the next week.

WALKING DOWN THE MANNY ROAD WOULD LIKE TO WISH GERALD WELL BACK IN FRANCE.
