Bolton Wanderers reserves hope to put two recent defeats against Manchester United behind them tonight when they take on Championship chasing Liverpool at the County Ground in Leyland.

The Merseysiders are just a point behind league leaders Sunderland in the race to claim the FA Premier Reserve League title from the Wanderers who themselves are rock bottom having failed to win a league game all season.

Disappointment in the Manchester Senior Cup against United further compounded the agony for Jimmy Phillips side so a surprise result tonight against the Reds could kick start the Trotters season at this level.

Bolton had the services of a number of experienced players for their title run in last season but this year it has been a different story with many of the more senior professionals being required for league and cup duty.

However this evening sees former England keeper Ian Walker and current Swiss international midfielder Blerim Dzemaili join full back Nicky Hunt and Spaniard Mikel Alonso as the experienced faces in the Wanderers team.
